The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, CA in 1974 by a group of engineers. The purpose of SHPE was to form a national organization that would serve as role models to the Hispanic community.

 

That group today is represented by over 10,000 members with more than 225 chapters across the nation and in countries other than the US.
